Propensity Scores: Theory
Slide 1 of 6
What is a Propensity Score?
The propensity score is the probability of receiving treatment given observed covariates:
Where:
- A is the treatment indicator (1 = treated, 0 = control)
- L represents all measured confounders
Key insight: The propensity score summarizes all confounders into a single number.
